How ShikshaSphere scores and ranks

• NIRF 2025 score · 40%

  The best score NIRF gives the institution, from any of its 2025 lists (0–100) — Engineering, Management, Medical, Law, University, Overall and the rest. Taking the best of them rather than only the University list is what puts the IITs, IIMs and AIIMS on the scale at all: none of them appears in the University ranking. A band 101–150 placing counts as 45. An institution NIRF has not ranked contributes nothing and its 40% is removed.

• NAAC grade · 20%

  A++ → 100 · A+ → 90 · A → 80 · B++ → 68 · B+ → 60 · B → 52 · C → 30 · D → 20. A university that has never been accredited is not given a middling score for this — the 20% is removed and the remaining weights are scaled up, so it is judged on what is actually known about it. A grade whose accreditation has lapsed still counts, and the university page shows the date it ran to.

• Placement outcome · 20%

  60% median package (linear, 25 LPA = 100 points) + 40% share of students placed. Where a university publishes neither, the 20% is removed rather than filled with an assumed figure. Where it publishes one of the two, that one carries the axis.

• Student rating · 15%

  Aggregate review rating mapped linearly: 3.5★ → 40 points, 4.8★ → 100 points. Only reviews left by verified students count; the indicative rating shown on a page with no reviews behind it is never scored.

• Institution of Eminence · 5%

  Adds 5% where the Government of India has granted IoE status. It is a bonus rather than an axis, so the twenty institutions that hold it gain and the rest are not marked down for a status almost nobody holds.
